    Hello Ed,
Thank you for the necessary reminder that Senator Bennet has yet to take a position on this matter. I can accept that citizens are falling victim to political spin and charges that the Employee Free Choice Act will somehow remove secret ballots from the union certification process, but elected officials have an obligation to sort through this. In fact, passage of this critical legislation will put this choice in the hands of the workers who want to form a union, rather than leaving workers at the mercy of management in that decision.

On average, union members earn 28% more than nonunion workers. Union members are far more likely to bargain for benefits such as healthcare and pensions, which explains why large corporations are fighting this.

On Monday, March 30 at 6:00 PM, the Denver Musicians Association will host an informative presentation on the facts and misconceptions of the Employee Free Choice Act. I encourage all who are interested to attend and offer my personal invitation to Senator Bennet.

The meeting/presentation will be held at the DMA facility at 1165 Delaware St., Denver, CO. I encourage everyone to download Questions and Answers about the Employee Free Choice Act, which will help clear up any misconceptions.

    See you there!

OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR MICHAEL BENNET

    Hello Senator Bennet,

I was hopeful that by now I would be writing you to say THANKS for becoming a co-sponsor of the Employee Free Choice Act.

At the Colorado State Democratic Party’s Central Committee and reorganization meeting on Sunday 8 March 2009, you spoke to the LABOR INITIATIVE of the COLORADO DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Among other comments, you called yourself a spineless politician. Please take the opportunity to prove that wrong!!

Please prove your courage by telling everyone that not only are you a proud Democrat, but that you are a proud supporter of America’s Middle Class. Continue by telling them that you not only support the Employee Free Choice Act, but in fact are a co-sponsor of the Act. Tell them the reason you support the Employee Free Choice Act is that the Act enhances the ability of America’s Working Families to earn a respectable living with appropriate wages, insurance and pension; thereby stimulating the economy of America!

All five Democratic US Representatives from Colorado have now shown you the way. Now it is your turn. It is indeed time to prove that Governor Bill Ritter was right in appointing you to this vacancy instead of adding to his disapproval ratings. It is indeed time for you to prove your leadership by doing the right thing for Colorado’s Working Class. It is indeed time for you to become a co-sponsor of the Employee Free Choice Act.

Step up, show up, and assure yourself the reelection of the century!!

An economic stimulus package reelection campaign slogan:
“If it is good for Workers, it will be good for Businesses!”

    Sincerely,

    Ed Knox
